Question about farming green weapons from bosses.(also melee wep question)
hello i am finally on my way of putting together a 7 hero team i am currently looking to get myself some weapons for my heroes specially my dervish which i can not find any good merchant to sell me some and i have no clue what to look for also.
I am planning to farm: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Asterius_the_Mighty I read that i can run SoS spirit spam with my necro because a party of heroes would net me lower drop rate. Is this statement still true? my question) 1)what are the odds of getting these weapons? are they worth putting time into getting? 2)do you really get higher drop rate for solo other than group(heroes and henchmen) 3) what melee weapon do people recommend for melee heroes? I have 2 VoS(vow of strength) dervish who i will use for markway but guide says to use zealot or the energy drain scythe; but the -energy seems bad isn't better to get the life steal one for more damage or armor penetration? any information or tips on farming up a decent weapon is appreciated. |

In GW green drops aren't directly better then other drops. So you can make a weapon that does exactly the same. See the replica section on your scythe's wiki page.http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Asterius%27_Scythe
It's very uncommon to farm a certain green weapon. If you persist in doing it, for every counts that heroes share in the drops. So if boss x has a 5% change of dropping his green weapon, with one hero the change it will drop for you will be 2,5% and with a full party the change will be 0,625% it will drop for you. Easiest way would be to kill anything but the boss with your heroes, then flag them far away and kill the boss by yourself. I did it for Hanuku's focus, it worked quite well because the boss was really close to the entrance.
Although in most cases, it's not worth the time investment. If you really want to upgrade your heroes' weapons, try to look for a weapon crafter instead : http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Weaponsmith Any max damage one will be enough, the rest is nitpicking imo. |

thank you guys for the help and reply i appreciate it a lot.
The farming for green its a lot of bs actually i have killed the boss about 10 times and no drop do hard mode bosses drop it more often? -i assumed if you in party with heroes and henchmen they share your loot no matter how far apart you are in a map is this true or not? -I also wish i could just get collector weapon but I don't have the money to purchase grips/etc and shouting for them would take longer than anything. |

Also, the upgrades definitely can make a difference to how effective a build operates, so its not just nitpicking. Some builds ONLY function as intended with weapons that are modded a certain way. |

Agree with Captain B...using weaponsmiths makes little sense as all max weps has a base cost of 5k and then on top of that you'd have to consider the cost of the actual mats to make it (5k is technically just what the weaponsmith charges to make the blue item) and for many/most the need to add inscriptions and/or mods to them to make them real functional.
In general, it doesn't really make sense to repeatedly try to farm a green that might not cost more than 5k. You'd be better off spending the time it takes to do this finding more lucrative ways to make money and then just buy a satisfactory green from someone in Kamadan. Just go through the list of greens (you can google/wiki the entire list of all greens), find the one's you want, make your money elsewhere and then go try and buy them from other players. You can also post a thread in the BUY forum here with a list of what you want and you should get plenty of hits from people that have em and are willing to sell them to you. As an alternative, when I was initially gearing out my heroes, I basically used weapons bought from the books you got from the Bonus Mission pack. If your copy of guild wars came with that, it's an easy way to get R9 copies of any weapon or off-hand you could want. You still have to kit them out with inscriptions and upgrades, but that's generally not as hard unless you need rarer things.

No, that is not true. If they are flagged away where you can't see them on your radar any more (their names are greyed-out on party thing) then they won't share the drops, it will count as you being alone. In theory the best, and the easiest way would be, if you do it in hard mode and get boss on very low health, and then flag the heroes away and just finish him off (you need a working build for that though).
